Piedfort platinum proof five pounds have been issued by the Royal Mint almost every year since. In the early years, they had larger mintages compared to present issues. One of the nice things about platinum is its impressive density! A piedfort platinum proof five pounds weighs 94.2 grams, containing just over 3 ounces of pure platinum. When you are holding one of these coins, you know its not just plated silver!
