At MJ Hughes Coins, we have extensive expertise in completing HMRC-compliant probate valuations. Based in Alton, Hampshire, we are a trusted presence in the local community, with a reputation for precision, care, and professionalism. Since opening our doors in 2006, we have completed hundreds of probate valuations, supporting executors, solicitors, and families during difficult times.

How Our Probate Valuations Work
We make the probate process as straightforward as possible, offering three flexible ways to secure an expert valuation:
- Visit Our Shop In Alton: Bring your items to us by appointment—we'll value them and then send you a formal letter‑headed document
- Send Us A List: For smaller, well-documented collections, you can email us a list with details and images, where available
- Book A Home Visit: If you can't visit us, we're happy to offer a discreet, professional home visit at no additional cost
Probate Valuation Costs
Our pricing reflects the scope and precision required.
We charge as little as £50 for standard valuations on smaller collections. For larger and more complex collections, particularly those including rare historic currency and where item-by-item documentation is required, we charge up to £150.
If you provide us with information about the size or nature of the estate, we'll gladly provide an accurate quote upfront.
