2011 Two Pound Coin - King James Bible

The King James Version, also known as the King James Bible or simply the Authorized Version (AV), is an English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England begun in 1604 and completed in 1611. The version is still in use today.

This coin celebrates the 400th Anniversary of the King James Bible.

The design features typeset in a replica of the black letter typeface used in the first edition: the reversed, raised text of the printing block on the left and the recessed text of the printed word on the right, taking the form of the quote from John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word". The Inscription is  "KING JAMES BIBLE" above, "1611–2011" below.

The edge is milled and has the inscription: "THE AUTHORISED VERSION".

The reverse was jointly designed by Paul Stafford and Benjamin Wright.

The obverse is the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
