1995 Gold Sovereign Proof

Only Proof Gold Sovereigns were issued in 1995; no bullion sovereigns were minted. Only 7,500 individually boxed proof sovereigns were issued by the Royal Mint in 1995 plus more in sets.

Benedetto Pistrucci's famous portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon is depicted on the reverse of the coin.

Queen Elizabeth II's third portrait can be seen on the obverse, designed by Raphael Maklouf.

The sovereign is made of solid 22 carat gold (Gold Fineness of 0.916), and weighs 7.98 grams. It has a diameter of 22.05mm.

The coin was originally housed in a Royal Mint acrylic screw top capsule, presented in its Royal Mint maroon leatherette case, accompanied with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity (COA).
