The 1995 Gold 4-Coin Sovereign Proof Set consists of:
- 1995 Gold Five-Pound (Quintuple Sovereign)
- 1995 Gold Double Sovereign (Gold Two-Pound)
- 1995 Gold Sovereign
- 1995 Gold Half-Sovereign
The set includes a gold plated medallion showing a crowned 'Elizabeth R' with the date '1995'. The reverse depicts a Pig, the Chinese new year animal for 1995.
Benedetto Pistrucci's famous portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon is depicted on the reverses of the five pounds, sovereign and half sovereign. The two pound piece features a design by John Mills to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War Two. A stylised representation of a dove as the symbol of Peace, with the edge inscription of '1945 IN PEACE GOODWILL 1995' can be seen.
Queen Elizabeth II's third portrait can be seen on the obverse of all four coins, designed by Raphael Maklouf.
The four coins are all made of solid 22 carat gold (Gold fineness of 0.916), and are housed in their original Royal Mint acrylic screw top capsules. The coins are presented in their Royal Mint red leatherette presentation case, accompanied with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity.
Only 718 sets were issued by the Royal Mint in 1995.
