
The 1993 gold proof crown was issued to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
The reverse was designed by Robert Elderton and features St. Edward's crown encircled by forty trumpets all within the inscription 'FAITH AND TRUTH I WILL BEAR UNTO YOU' and the dates '1953 - 1993'.

The obverse depicts a small centred young portrait of Queen Elizabeth II encircled by eight trumpeters on horseback, divided by sceptres and swords, all within the inscription 'ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA FID DEF FIVE POUNDS'.
The coin is made of solid 22 carat gold (Gold fineness of 0.916).

Originally the Coronation Crown would have been housed in its original Royal Mint acrylic screw top capsule. The coin was presented in a Royal Mint red leatherette presentation case, accompanied with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity (COA).
The gold crown has a weight of 39.94 grams.
Only 2,500 gold proof crowns were issued by the Royal Mint in 1993.
