
The 1980 Gold Sovereign. Benedetto Pistrucci's famous portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon is depicted on the reverse of the coin.
Queen Elizabeth II's second portrait can be seen on the obverse, designed by Arnold Machin.

The sovereign is made of solid 22 carat gold (Gold Fineness of 0.916), and weighs 7.98 grams. It has a diameter of 22.05mm.
Originally the coin was housed in a Royal Mint acrylic screw top capsule, presented in its Royal Mint green leatherette foam case, accompanied with a certificate of authenticity.
