This was the second year a 2oz gold proof Krugerrand has been issued by the South African Mint. The 2019 Gold Proof 2oz Krugerrand has a mintage of only 400. The 2019 Gold Proof 2oz Krugerrand is made of 22 carat gold, and weighs 67.86 grams. The coin has an impressive diameter of 40mm. The reverse of the Krugerrand features a Springbok, South Africa's national animal. The design was engraved by famous sculptor Coert Steynberg. The obverse of the 2oz Krugerrand depicts Paul Kruger, the first president of the South African Republic, designed by O Schultz. The 2oz Krugerrand is housed in its original SA Mint presentation case, complete with a certificate of authenticity. The first Krugerrand was struck on the 3rd July 1967, and quickly became a popular gold bullion coin around the world.
