The 2012 Gold Proof Quarter-Sovereign This new reverse design was created to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Minted at The Royal Mint. The Obverse is the Monarch’s head (Elizabeth II) and the Reverse is an image of St George and the Dragon by British sculptor Paul Day. Introduced in 2009, the Gold Quarter-Sovereign is the smallest modern legal tender British gold coin. It is a quarter of the weight of the gold sovereign.
