Description
The medallion was issued in 1989 by the Royal Mint. It is made of 18 carat gold, all sourced from Welsh gold mines, and weight 1/4oz. The piece is often referred to as a 'sovereign', due to its similarities. The 1989 Welsh gold sovereign medallion is housed in its original leatherette presentation case. The case has a gold etched Welsh dragon on the front. Only 3,000 medallions were issued by the Royal Mint in 1989.
