2022 Gold Proof Half Sovereign

Description

The 2022 gold proof half sovereign features a new reverse design to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee. A Royal Coat of Arms was created by Timothy Noad, the artist behind the 2005 gold proof sovereign depiction of St George and the Dragon. Queen Elizabeth II's fifth portrait can be seen on the obverse of the coin, designed by Jody Clark. The reverse design of the half sovereign has only been changed a handful of times by the Mint - 1989, 2002, 2005, 2012 and 2017. All of these dates are extremely sought after by collectors. The 2022 gold proof half sovereign comes in its original Royal Mint presentation case with a certificate of authenticity. Only 2,000 proof half sovereigns have been issued by the Royal Mint.
