The 2017 Brilliant Uncirculated Gold Five Pounds was issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the gold sovereign. The reverse depicts Benedetto Pistrucci’s famous original portrayal of St George and the dragon, the exact same design on the 1817 sovereign. Queen Elizabeth II’s fifth portrait can be seen on the obverse, designed by Jody Clark.
The gold five pounds is made of 22 carat gold, and weighs 39.94 grams.
The 2017 Brilliant Uncirculated Gold Five Pounds comes in its original presentation case with a certificate of authenticity. Only 1,000 pieces were issued by the Royal Mint.
