1923 South Africa Proof Set

Only 655 sets were issued by the South African Mint in 1923.

The set was the first coinage to be issued by the Union of South Africa. The set for sale is missing the two gold coins, the 1923 South Africa gold proof sovereign and half sovereign, but contains the silver proof half crown, florin, shilling, sixpence and threepence, along with the copper penny, half penny and farthing.

Only 655 sets were issued by the South African Mint. The coins are housed in their original dark red Mappin and Webb presentation case.

Due to the low mintage, these sets are extremely difficult to find.
