Australia
Australia have a rich coin history. There are generally three main categories: Colonial coinage which is often referred to as the Proclamation series (1788–1825); Pre-decimal coins (1910 to 1964); and Decimal coins (1966 to present).
Gold Sovereigns and Half Sovereigns were minted between 1853 to 1931 when the Royal Mint needed help supplying the demands of the Commonwealth. Three mints were used: Melbourne (mintmark ‘M’), Sidney (‘S’) and Perth (‘P’).
The Australian Mints issue some beautiful coins and modern Australian coins (especially silver) are extremely popular.
