Other Royal Mint Gold Proof Sets

The Royal Mint have issued many ‘one-off’ gold proof coin sets over the last few years. These are usually issued to commemorate special events or occasions, such as the 2002 Golden Jubilee or 2012 London Olympics.

Royal Mint Gold Proof Coin Sets

With a major British event or occasion, you can guarantee the Royal Mint will be issuing a ‘special’ gold coin set. Some of the occasions to name a few include the 2002 Golden Jubilee, 2012 London Olympics and 2012 Diamond Jubilee. Personally, one of my favourite Royal Mint gold proof coin collections ever issued has to be the 2002 Golden Jubilee 13 coin gold proof collection. Only 2002 sets were produced, and features all of the UK decimal currency in solid 22 carat gold, including 4 Maundy coins.

Royal Mint Historic Gold Coin Collections

Particularly over the last decade, the Royal Mint has been issuing a number of ‘Historic’ gold coin collections. These sets often feature a number of older British gold coins. For example, the King George V Mint Mark Gold Sovereign Set. Usually, all of the coins are beautifully presented in a wooden presentation box, complete with a certificate of Authenticity.

Working with other Mints

The Royal Mint sometimes works in partnership with other World mints to produce a multi coin set. These sets feature British gold coins, as well as World gold coins. For example, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale, a number of two coin gold sets were issued alongside the French Mint (Monnaie De Paris).
